Elder Clayton of the Seventy
Monday, June 15, 2015

Hey Everyone!

It's been a great week!

Tuesday we did service for Sis Moseman and it was super fun. She's a sweet little old lady in the ward and she just loves the missionaries! We also helped someone move and had a fun dinner at the Wyburgs (our wml - ward mission leader) It was a great day and we ended it at Brandon ( a recent convert in the ward) and had a really good lesson with him. He's got a huge gospel foundation and studies like crazy.

Wednesday was really hot outside. Up in the 90's, just like home! We did service for an elderly brother in the ward and had a good time. We had dinner with the Vansant family that evening and it was just like Sunday dinner at grandma's house! It was great!

Thursday was weekly planning. We had a good planning session and it's gonna be a good week this week! We also had dinner at another senior couples house and they forced us to eat way too much. That was pretty rough on us since we had to ride our bikes the whole rest of the evening.

Friday was interesting, we started getting sick and had to slow down a little bit.  We did have a fun lesson with a la  (less active) lady who loves missionaries and she told us all about the different medication she is on.  It was interesting to say the least. We also picked up a new investigator who's super solid!

We had a mission conference and Elder Clayton of the Seventy came and gave a really good talk on Christlike attributes and mission work. It was great.

Saturday we went to Karma's baptism back on the Southhill, It was super good to see them and it was a great baptismal service! I also got to see Brother Fletcher again and it was fun to see my old area for a little bit.
Chelsea's baptism

Sunday was  pretty normal, we did get to see Brandon pass the sacrament for the first time and that was really great. He also got a temple recommend and we're planning on going with him for baptisms sometime this week.

We did have a bbq with a family in the ward, it was super good! I'm excited for summer bbq season!

Love ya'll!

June 8, 2015

Hey everyone!

It's been a nice and busy week in the new area!

Elder Keppner, Griffin and Molder

Tuesday we had a crazy transfer day and moved into a 4 man apartment in the Dishman Micah Ponderosa area. It's exciting! I'm part time car, which is mostly biking and Im super excited to be with my new Companion, Elder Jorgensen. He's super cool! Love him! It was really hard saying bye to Elder Molder And Elder Keppner though.

Chelsea
Wednesday  we had an awesome lesson with Jill who was on date for baptism the 6th of June, it was a super good lesson and she is so excited to be baptized!

Thursday we had an awesome weekly planning session and it was perfect. We are so prepped and organized for the week it's great! We also had a nice service project for an older gentelman in the ward.

We had a funny experience that morning. We were just starting planning and then we heard a knock on the door. Guess who it is? The JW's! So we had a nice discussion and actually left on pretty good terms. Very interesting that they all seem to end up at our house though. Later in the week we had a baptist preacher stop by as well! It was funny! They got all scared when they saw the name tags!

Friday was nice, we had a zone meeting and then had an evening full of miracles! We all decided to go to dinner together and on the way there Elder Larsen got pulled over and the officer let him off with no problems.  Then we went to Cafe Rio and a member paid for us out of nowhere! Then  we got free frozen yogurt and I found out that Griffin and Katie are on date for baptism and Griffin wants me to baptize him! It was super exciting!

Saturday was Jill's baptism, it was a super spiritual experience and her family was there to support. It was great. I love baptisms. It was a nice day and we did a lot of biking.

Sunday was full of meetings and we even got to hear from Elder Johnson of the 70. It was a good fireside and just a good day.

Fire side, Zone Conference and new investigators

Wednesday, May 27, 2015
(Monday was a holiday, Tuesday was temple day)

Hey Everyone!
Its been a good week! Monday night we gave a fireside for the ysa ward and had fun. We did a mini MTC and taught about continued revelation, it was super good.

Tuesday we spent a lot of time with a missionary who has been struggling lately, it was good to talk with him. That evening we had a lesson at the park again and guess who decides to show up? more moody bible students. It was a way cool lesson though because our new investigator (large black man whos name is Griffin) was just like "why you tryin to start contention? What if the Book of Mormon is true? I don't wanna be damned because i didn't see what it has to offer. It says Jesus Christ right on the cover of it!" It was super awesome and the moody bible guys ended up taking a BOM as they left. It turned into a super good lesson after they left and we didn't even get a parking ticket after! It was a blessing!

Wednesday we went to urgent care with one of our recent converts and spent some time helping her as she waited for care, it was good. Not too much else happened.

Thursday we found out the missionary who had been struggling was going home on Friday and we got permission to spend some extra time with him. it was tough, but it was definitely good for him. We also got two new investigators who are super super studious and so it's going to be interesting to see how things work out with them. They have a lot to learn and they want to learn it in depth. It will be fun teaching them.

Friday we spent most of the day at zone conference and the Elder went home, It was really tough to see him go.

We also had game night with the ysa ward and had fun with some of our investigators there.

Saturday we had a really good lesson with our blind investigator and she's doing so well now, we found her a study buddy and she's been loving the Book of Mormon so much! It's been great!

Sunday was pretty uneventful, except we had an unusual experience that evening with a recent  move in. She was struggling with depression and we ended up having to run over to her place and make sure she was doing okay. It was a different experience, but she really appreciated our visit.

Monday was interesting, i had to go to the hospital to get my blood drawn and then something just hit me and I was down the rest of the day. I spent most of it with our neighbor Bro Fletcher and things worked out pretty good despite the sudden hit.

Tuesday we had a fun day. We got permission for some missionaries to stay the night because they had a long drive and we were going to the temple together. It was lots of fun and it was nice to see them. We also had a great lesson with Griffin and Katie, plan of salvation. They are super solid, so they had lots of questions but just loved it. We also went on splits and contacted some referrals and found a couple super nice people and picked up one new solid investigator! It was awesome!

That's about it for the week,
Love ya'll!

Service and Miracles

May 18, 2015

Hey everyone!

It's been a great week, lots of fun and lots of good work!

Monday we had an awesome family home evening with an active family and a less active family, it was great! Afterwards we went to the ysa family home evening and had a great game of volleyball with the ward. It was fun!

Tuesday we found one of our investigators a study buddy to help her with reading the Book of Mormon. It's been great for her and she's progressing so much now! Before the lesson we were at the park and we saw a magician guy and it was super good and pretty funny!

Wednesday we had a good day, went to the mission office and worked on some things for family history, we also had a super good dinner at the Crumps, mexican pot pie, it was tasty and that evening I got to check up on the Dowells and the Tibbets and they're both doing super good! It felt so good to talk to them and catch up. It really helped me feel better.

Thursday we had a birthday party for Moldy at one of our recent converts house and had super tasty tres leches cake and did service and helped someone move. It was a super good day. We also got weekly planning done and just had a good solid day.

Friday was fun, we had district meeting and went to Costa Vida for lunch.  President Mullen showed up with one of the other districts and it was super funny! We even put his wipers up again and he thought it was a good one! love that guy!

Saturday we did service at the house of charity again preparing and serving food. It was way fun and that afternoon we went to work and had little success. It was kinda frustrating, but on our way back to dinner there was a huge rainstorm that rolled in, so we just did what we could and called it an evening.

Sunday was different, some of the missionaries nearby were struggling with some things so we went and took one of them with me to get a checkup from one of their investigators who is an EMT and then we talked about what he's been struggling with. It was really good and he's doing much better. It was a good fun day and we even saw a miracle during church! We went outside to talk to one of our investigators who went to take a smoke and she had her boyfriend with her, he had been kind of standoffish last time we saw him and so we were kinda nervous to talk to him, but after we talked to him Sunday he opened up to us, talked about how cool it was that Jesus came to America and then said he's going to read the Book of Mormon and gladly come to church and take the discussions. It was super cool! Huge miracle, God is awesome!

love ya'll!
have a great week

Running through the park, filling the font and skyping!

May 11, 2015

Hey everyone, it's been a pretty interesting week.

Tuesday we went on splits and I got to visit a few families with Bro Howell and had a few nice visits. It was really productive and it was nice to get to know the ward better.

Wednesday we went for a run up the Perry steps and had fun with moran prairie elders.

We also had a crazy miracle during a lesson down at river front park. We were headed to our lesson and this random girl stopped us and talked to us and mentioned she was from moody bible institute (a school that teaches how to bible bash) and then we kinda just shrugged her off and went to our lesson, the girl we were teaching was a few minutes late and so we waited for a minute. We were looking around and then we saw our investigator coming, and right behind her, the moody bible girl had a friend and was pointing at us, ready to come talk to us, so we ended up walking quickly the other way and calling our investigator and let her know what was going on and that a member was going to meet her at the corner and we were going to be along shortly. So we ended up running through the park, stopped and said a quick prayer, and then saw them trying to cut us off further in the park, so we hid behind a building when they couldn't see us for a second and then ran the other way, got our investigator and successfully evaded the attack. It was super cool. my oh crap senses were going off like crazy and if we hadn't said a prayer, I don't know what would've happened.

Thursday we went to hope house and got a tour of the facilities and signed up to do service there on Saturday. It was a nice tour and we had some good visits that evening.

Friday we had zone training and gamenight with the ysa, it was lots of fun, and funny story, halfway through we had to help the Manito sisters with filling the baptismal font with buckets of warm water because the water heater was shut off for the font. It was chaotic. We started exchanges that evening and Elder Keppner came to spo2/ysa while Elder Molder went to moranprairie.

Saturday we went to service at the hope house all morning and then helped Bro Fletcher with some things around the house. We ran all over town doing different things. It was a good day and we had a really good lesson with a la member who we'd had trouble with in the past.

Sunday was church all day and then skyping with family, it was awesome!

Cathedrals, Soccer and Ice Cream!

May 4, 2015
Hey everyone,
It's been quite a week.

Bryce with Sister Deangelo
Monday we got to see Sis Deangelo and have ice cream with her as well as go to the Crumps for dinner. Sis Crump gave me a bunch of scripture mastery things to help with my studies and it's been super helpful.

Tuesday we played soccer with one of our RC's (recent converts) and had a lesson in the park. We also went downtown and talked to a bunch of people and had fun doing some faster paced work.

Wednesday there were lots of grumpy people. We went to the park and tried some creative finding.  Elder Molder and Elder Keppner played guitar and sang hymns while Elder Epps and I went around talking to people.  We ended up finding a new investigator and it was a good use of an afternoon.

Thursday was weekly planning and the weekly YSA dinner.

Friday we had a super fun district meeting and we toured the cathedral and even had a good conversation with the tour guide about our church.

New apartment in Spokane
Saturday I was on exchanges with Elder Jorgensen.  It was a super fun super miracle-filled day. We did service for Bro Fletcher and cleaned the kitchen at the church.  The whole rest of the day was filled with miracles. I felt like God was literally guiding our every step. Even our choice for dinner was inspired.  We went to Costa Vida and got there just as a former investigator was getting off work. She agreed to give the church and missionary discussions another chance. It was amazing.
Sunday was good, I got to meet the YSA ward and we even had a "break the fast" meal after church. It was super good and I'm excited to be getting to know my ward better.
